Life Is A Journey

My name is Brian Sutton. I am a proud DC native and a Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor. I am a veteran of the United States Military and served 12 years in the United States Army as a Psychological Operations Specialist. I have been studying psychology and mental health for over ten years as a passion and means to assist people within my community. I am a college professor and have been teaching psychology and counseling courses since 2017. The courses I have taught include Introduction to Psychology, Psychopathology, Research Methods in Behavioral Science, Introduction to Counseling, and Theories of Counseling. I have presented at American Counseling Association conferences and the District of Columbia Psychological Association on research topics pertaining to diversity and multicultural issues as they relate to African American people. I have studied a variety of topics and issues, including, but limited to, borderline personality disorder, emotional dysregulation, anxiety, stress, racial identity development, anger management, human consciousness, and Christian spiritual counseling. I utilize an integrated approach to therapy and problem solving due to the dynamic nature of people.
I am a doctoral candidate for a Ph.D. in Counseling Education from Walden University currently working on my dissertation. I graduated from American Military University with a Master of Arts in Psychology and I graduate from the University of Maryland with a Bachelor of Science in Social Science. I look forward to serving the community and assisting those in need.
